Who ever thought that hosting graduation and prom on the same day was a good idea is INSANE!
So goes the class of 2021, never a dull moment.
The year end slide started a few weeks in April for most kids, but not for Kay. She buckled down and worked hard to pass her last class. Personal Finance. She was focused and turned in good work. In fact, the last assignments were graded on Tuesday and her teacher called to tell us the good news, SHE PASSED! We had a high school graduate on our hands!
In celebration we had balloons, orange chicken and kids champagne, her favorite.
Then, it was the mad rush to get ready for graduation at 10am on Thursday and prom at 7 pm on the same day. (way too many costume changes to count)
Kay, of course, did all her own makeup, hair, nails and accessorizing and she was gorgeous.
We are so proud of this milestone. It wasn't easy for any of us, especially Kay. And, she has a great summer job (Kids and Co, 2nd grade) that will be a great year round job, benefits, union AND..the chance to take free online community classes when she's ready.
We have no doubt that once Kay figures out what she wants to do, she'll light the world on fire. In the meantime, the 2nd graders at Meadowbrook are getting the coolest, most creative, fun, funny and kind summer para they've ever had.
Kay, you are kind, creative, funny, fierce, loyal, capable, courageous, clever and an amazing friend. You have super powers you haven't even discovered yet and we are so thrilled that you march to your own beat (even when it drives us crazy, we know its part of the charm of who you are...)
Kay, we love you, you are loved, you ARE love and you love in big big ways. XOXOXOX Mom and Dad.
