st annual 29th MS150 ride

See below for narrative and photo comments

I can still do it!

Wendy rode for Annemiek and boy did she look out for us with amazing weather! Wendy wore A’s favorite sushi jersey (& got a ton of compliments) and rode A’s bike. I wore A’s shirts, skirt and used her bike gloves. It all paid off 💕🙏🚴🏻‍♂️☀️⛺️💰

Wow…this year was unbelievable!  Best weather in over 10 years and … we all felt like we were in our 30’s again!

The ride was cool, downhill, slightly cloudy and we had an AMAZING tailwind that pushed us the whole way home. Usually I’m working hard to ride 15-16 mph, this year we were cruising at 18-20mph with hardly an effort. Thank you north wind!!

And, many of you were SO generous this weekend with your donations!  I’m not at $4,405 against my goal of $5,000 !!  Woo hoo!  There is still time to donate (in case you were waiting to make sure I actually rode AND finished😊)   Thank you to EVERYONE that donated!

A few notes/thank you’s….
~ If you gave me a personal check, thank you!   I handed it in on Friday 6/9 so it may take a few weeks to post.

~ Last year I raised $5,000, that put me as #34 in the top 150 fundraisers AND … top 5 women (out of 34 women – yes WAY more men do this ride than women, which is nice when it comes to our shower line being shorter/nonexistent)

~ I can still manage a backbend (see photo – I do a back bend, once a year on day 2 lunch of the ride)

~ Ned and Wendy are my biking buddies, Ned has rode 27 consecutive years and Wendy/I 29 of the last 31 – we use the time to get caught up on EVERYTHING in our lives, family, friends, dogs, work …

~ I ride for Team Target and Lily/Jacob are amazing team captains, this year there were loads of drinks and a delicious Mexican buffet

~ John and Jim are the trusty drivers who transport our bikes and luggage and take such good care of us, keeping us safe and making the trip up so much easier

Finally …THANK YOU! Whether $, notes of encouragement or good vibes for weather, you all pulled through for us.

Until next year!  (and # 30!)…  Peace, love and tailwinds…

And… that’s a wrap - class of 2023

From the 1st day of school to the last, Billy made the most of every day. Sports, film club, orchestra, choir, dances, class, studying, friends, field trips.. you name it, his answer was always ...sure, why not?!

Billy graduated Magna Cum Laude and played in the orchestra during graduation. His hat said Fab 5 in honor of his friends and he's got a killer senior road trip planned to Yellowstone in July.

He's enjoyed every last minute of being a senior... Billy in the Halls, Senior Sunset, Senior Party, Prom, bowling, bubo tea, anime movies, pizza, soda tasting contests, frisbee, s'mores, bonfires... everything.

Now the hard work starts, prep for college. He's got to take placement tests and finish his online prep requirements before next weeks orientation at the U of M.

We are SO SO SO proud of this young man. Kind, gentle, funny, resilient, adventurous, talented, smart, and present.

Dad and I love you to the moon and back.  Big things are your future.

Next step for us ... 3 of 3 ... time to change the locks.

The program was in 4 languages, SO cool - Somali, Spanish, Hmong and English. SUPER diverse school, we love it.

The welcome was given by students in all 3 languages
