Imagine chasing three very active teenagers around the city using google calendar, excel spreadsheets and various other management tools to try and run your household as George Banks would say with " British Precision" ...that would be us.
Now imagine that things are going along somewhat in the way Mr. Banks would appreciate only to have your eldest come to you on a random Thursday evening and say"oh by the way I'm getting Baptized on Sunday at 5:00" The same weekend that Billy has taekwondo state in Iowa, Kay has gymnastics state at the U and the Sadies dance AND ... Tracy's annual work event is Sunday and she's hosting. How would you react?
Background... Jimmy has become very active in his new church, River Valley Church. He goes every Wednesday night to the youth group/service. Recently, they have asked him to play drums and run the music for the youth service and have asked him to play in some of the upcoming Sunday services. He is thrilled with his church and completely involved so it is not a shock that he wants to be "Baptized". But really do you need to be Baptized 2 different times? And on the busiest weekend of the year?! I guess so. Not to make light, he made this choice as his own and feels very compelled, so we said yes.
What we did not expect was that Tracy and Billy would travel to Iowa for an overnight so Billy could compete in the Iowa State Taekwando tournament, and not come back for 4 days (due to a crazy winter storm that shut down Hwy 35 - more on this in the next blog). So since Tracy was going to miss the Baptism we called in the big guns, Jimmy's Godfather, Jim Fellows. Jim and Jen joined Tom at the service and then back to the house for an almost compete turkey dinner.
Jimmy was truly blessed by the event and it was exciting to be there amongst all the energy that his church brings.
Jimmy, we love that you are making your own way and choices in your life. So proud that you take life by the horns and find/stay on your path.
LOVE!
