Aloha Maui!

Yes, after months and months and months of holding out and saying "no" to Kay's request for a new puppy, we gave in.

Per our Christmas blog, we have been on every rescue adoption site in MN applying for every chihuahua mix puppies that showed up. After several failed attempts and close calls, we are now the proud parents of Maui (aka, Vincent aka Malibu)

He is a Chiweenie (chihuahua daschund mix) and is SUCH a sweetie. He was born in early November and is probably about 3-4 lbs. He's brave, curious, friendly and super super duper wiggly.  He's also damn fast, not potty trained and a barker.

The 1st day, Nikki had nothing to do with him and ignored him completely. Sort of "if I ignore him maybe he'll go away".  But since, they have warmed up to each other and play constantly. Nikki is very gentle with him but definitely lets him know that she's the boss. He is starting to pick up both her good habits (sitting before he eats) and bad habits (wanting to eat at exactly 6:30 each day).

Against our better judgment he's been sleeping with Kay (spoiled rotten) but does spend his days in his kennel (barking like mad when we leave).

Overall he's a super fun and cute puppy who (we hope) we turn into a good dog, thanks to Nikki's mentorship.

Now we just need the snow to gosh that he can start to learn to go potty outside. Since he came up from Texas, he's not a big fan of the snow but is doing well with training on a puppy pad.

Welcome to the family Maui!!

Kay and Maui with the stuffed animal we gave her for Christmas as a "place holder" present. Crazy how much he looks like it!

Sweet face

A good size comparison to get how absolutely little he is

Resting after playing

His ears are the best, they lay flat when he's chasing and perk up when he's curious

The neighbors love him

Friday night - woo hoo!

Yep, we really are that exciting
