We had a great long weekend celebrating us. Nicollet Island Inn, live music at Aster, great appies and beer at Fulton, no manners dinner with dear friends. Nice calm relaxing weekend.
At the end of the weekend we were reflecting on 25 years and how hard it is. Western society sells a bucket of shit about happily ever after, soul mates, white picket fence, lifelong great sex and other BS. Marriage and parenthood is hard. Full Stop. It’s recommitting. Every. Day. It’s not just compromising but knowing when you have to surrender. It’s the tiny moments that sneak up on you everyday, not the grand vacations. It’s beautiful and ugly and heartbreaking and joyous and comfortable and predictable and maddening and surprising. Grateful to have a willing partner in this human experience 💕🙏
