Happy sweet 16 Kay (or at least lets hope it is ;))
We celebrated Kay's birthday a bit early so that she can spend the day with her friends. Given that she is a full fledged teenager, and Kay, this should come at no surprise.
However, we had a really nice dinner (salsa verde enchiladas) and she was a delight.
Everyone told Kay their favorite part about her (Billy = she is good at making friends, Jimmy = she is adventurous, Tom = she is creative, Tracy = she is independent and fearless, Maui = she's a good cuddle, Nikki = you pet me). Her best memory of the last year was all the vacation with cousins but Spring Break in particular. Her goals for next year are to get her drivers license. (not sure if we should cheer her on or let that run its own course....)
Kay stole our hearts the minute we saw her crabby Don King baby picture. She is fierce, creative, street smart, relentless, competitive, strong, flexible, funny, generous, delightful, demanding, exhausting, independent, a risk taker, confident and invincible (or so she thinks). Raising her has been a joy and a challenge and we are waiting with bated breath to see how this all turns out.
Some day, we hope that we can meet her birth family and foster family (again) and tell them just how blessed we have been by Kay and how eternally grateful we are for the sacrifice and heartache they are surely experiencing.
Kay - we love you more than you will ever every know.... Mom and Dad.
Update: Her birthday party was her typical over the top affair. Camping (boys and girls) tubing pizza junk food pasta Monster drinks soda popcorn music chatting laughing NO sleeping and a supposed coyote sighting... See photos below
