Luck of the ☘️

Last weekend, Billy and I (Tracy) took Jimmy to Notre Dame - law school orientation and apartment move it. We couldn't leave until Saturday morning since Alex K got married Friday night and it was critical Jimmy was there for his 2nd family.

After an almost 9 hour drive, we landed up to blue skies and the glory that is ND. Jimmy gave us the full walking tour and download about touchdown Jesus, 1st down Moses, the law school, and how excited he is that he lives across the street from the football practice fields.

We chilled in our hotel, had a nice Asian fusion dinner, and Billy and I started bing watching How I Met your Mother. Have to admit, jury is out on if I'll keep watching it. I might be too old.

Sunday he was able to pick up keys at 10am, so we headed over, unloaded our car load and got our 1st peak at his new place. Apt #1313! Very lucky and auspicious!

Then it was the years most massive Target run thanks to the 20% off that Wendy hooked us up with for new students. Despite shit wifi at the register line and it taking 20+ extra minutes to check out, it was worth the $100+ in savings.

Unloaded that load and now we are hungry - Steak and Shake for everyone including old fashion shakes. Yum!

Next up ....grocery run (had to do that after we ate) while Billy set up the vacuum, swiffer, shower curtain and got the apartment a bit cleaned up. Jimmy is a man of habit and despite being offered anything from the store, basically stuck with chicken, rice, broccoli, corn dogs, grapes, mandarin oranges, eggs, bacon, lunch meat, mustard, bread, pizza, and some snacks. I truly couldn't talk him into more and the lady behind us was laughing.

Unloaded all that and then the unpacking started in earnest with Jimmy doing the bathroom/bedroom and Billy and I washing all the kitchen items and putting away food. It was actually very efficient until....we realized we needed more stuff from Target (bed mattress, scissors, duct tape, etc) so...back to Target.

We did manage to wrap everything up by 6:15, including Billy and I showered. Good thing too!  Jimmy had his VMI fantasy football draft at 6:30 and we were essentially getting kicked out. Luckily, I had the foresight to get in touch with our dear friend Jan in LaGrange IL and we organized a late dinner near her house. Billy and I made the 2 hour trek and had a great relaxing patio dinner at an Irish Pub in the Chicago area. Nice!  Billy even went to far to be my DD and drove us to our Elgin hotel after dinner.

It was so great to catch up with Jan, both her boys (Jet and Charlie) are also in college with girlfriends so we had a LOT of notes to compare.  Miss having her in MPLS!

Monday I got up, worked out, we breakfasted and made the final 6 hour trip home with a great play list from Billy, yummy stop at Kwik Trip, and long planning conversations on Billy's apartment (what he needs and how we'll do his differently). Just in time to get home, walk the dogs, and shake the pear tree!

Whew! I need a day off but am very grateful for Billy's help and company.

Jimmy text on Monday night ... "I made 15 friends at orientation today, I think I'll be ok".  Yes you will Jimmy, yes you will.

Onward, upward and let the studying begin!!
